CERTIFICATE IV IN DANCE TEACHING AND MANAGEMENT

This qualification will enable you to build on your dance skills and experience and learn how to succeed in dance teaching and management. It reflects the role of individuals working in a variety of dance teaching contexts, including private dance studios. You will learn how to apply solutions to a defined range of unpredictable problems and analyse and evaluate information relating to the assessment of dance students. The program covers key elements of dance teaching practice, including how to teach, what to teach, and how to be successful. The qualification is essential for those who want to open a dance school, teach/manage in-school programs, and/or expand their professional knowledge.

WHO IS THE COURSE FOR?

This qualification is designed for international learners who are seeking employment in a varied context in the private dance teaching industry. They seek to develop dance teaching skills in a practical dance setting whilst maintaining a high level of dance performance technique.

COURSE DELIVERY

This course is delivered over 20 hours per week through a combination of face-to-face and online delivery over 52 weeks (including 12 week holidays). Students are required to attend 15 hours of classroom training per week and complete structured self-study of 5 hours per week. This is a mandatory component of a student’s study, and the student’s attendance and participation will be monitored.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

The training package stipulates that individuals must complete an audition or provide another form of evidence which demonstrates their competence in at least one dance style equivalent to Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) level 4 or above (for furhter information request the course brochure)
Australian Dance Institute Pty Ltd also requires
students:

Be at least 18 years old

Commit to 20 hours study per week

IELTS score of at least 6 (or equivalent in other test systems)

Australian Year 12 equivalent and or above or completion of CUA30320 Certificate III in Assistant Dance Teaching

Sufficient level of language, literacy and numeracy levels in order to interpret documents, learner guides and assessment tools, prepare written reports and plans.

Good technology skills in order to conduct the online components of the course.

Good communication and interpersonal skills in order to lead and motivate dance students of various ages and abilities
